Inspiring Young Readers

More fun with Mr Wolf wordless books

I always love doing workshops with Year 4 children using a range of superbly illustrated wordless books.

This time I worked with children from Moor Green Primary Academy in Birmingham using an individual story plan to inspire their books. Most of the children are still working on these, because producing a complete book can take a very long time! After all, the great Maurice Sendak took three years to be satisfied with Where the Wild Things Are.

I have been delighted to receive a sample of completed books and children, parents and staff should be very proud to scroll through the cover pictures with intriguing titles below.

When they read the books they will enjoy wordless stories that are packed with adventure, humour, jeopardy and complex plot. The original wolf picture used on the cover was kindly donated by the internationally acclaimed illustrator, Korky Paul  - who was very impressed with the stories and has commented that they are brilliant.

We hope that the children will be inspired to keep drawing and will perhaps become illustrators one day in the future.
