An Interview with Sara Lamerton

The Letterpress Project has asked authors and illustrators to think about what has inspired them as artists, what their favourite books are and how they relate to their audience - we've also asked them if they themselves are book collectors.

We are delighted to present an exclusive interview with author Sara Lamerton. Sara was born in Plymouth, Devon. After graduating from university, she wanted to travel beyond the quiet city on the South West coast and spent several years living abroad. Whilst there, she began working with children and young people who inspired her in many ways, including in the desire to revisit her long-lost childhood love of creative writing.

Upon returning to her hometown, Sara grew increasingly fascinated by the remarkable landmarks around her, many of which held intrigue when growing up. Having always been drawn to chilling tales of the mysterious and supernatural, she took the leap into children’s fiction.

Her debut book is The Curse of Drake's Island: A Spooky Tale for Middle Grade Readers
