An Interview with Cori Doerrfeld

The Letterpress Project has asked authors and illustrators to think about what has inspired them as artists, what their favourite books are and how they relate to their audience - we've also asked them if they themselves are book collectors.

We are delighted to present an exclusive interview with author/illustrator, Cori Doerrfeld. Cori grew up dreaming of a job in animation but ultimately went to St. Olaf College to earn her B.A. studying art and science. Afterwards, she earned her Post Baccalaureate in illustration from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. After years of working with young children, she went on to help create nearly 40 books for kids with both local and national publishers.

Her NYT bestselling book, The Rabbit Listened, is currently available in 34 languages, the winner of numerous awards including the Minnesota Book Award, The Anna Dewdney Read-Together Award, and the Crystal Kite.

Cori’s most recent books, including Beneath and Ready to Soar, strive to continue her mission to start conversations and help people connect.

She lives in the United States in Minneapolis, Minnesota with her comic book artist husband, Tyler Page, their two children, and her studio companion, Jinx the dog.
