This Easter The Letterpress Project invites you to a Wonderland of Alice books and memorabilia at Spetchley Gardens

Everyone knows something about the wonderful story of Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, but did you know that there are hundreds of different editions interpreted by a variety of different illustrators – from major artists like Salvador Dali or Peter Blake right through to our modern day greats like Chris Riddell or Helen Oxenbury.

Come along to our special exhibition where Karen Argent, the Director of The Letterpress Project will introduce you to examples of beautifully illustrated Alice books, old and new, and be delighted to also share a selection from her own personal collection of related artefacts and memorabilia.

But that’s not all! We’ll also be providing a fabulous book stall where you can find something special to take away. All of our books are pre-owned but we search high and low for those that are in as-new condition and make them available in an affordable way.

We make no profit from the book stall because all money goes back into the project so that we can continue bringing these books to children and adults who appreciate them.

So come along and see us, take a trip down the rabbit hole and see what it’s like to spend some time in our Wonderland.  

At the Letterpress Project we believe that there is something very special about reading books. Holding them in your hands, turning the pages, catching the smell of paper old and new, marvelling at the skills of the illustrator and letting the weight of all those pages settle in your hand or on your lap – it’s an invitation to a journey that can take you anywhere. We think that books are a gateway to ideas and adventures that expand our understanding of the world and ourselves.
