Buck ‘n’ Bronco Hit the Road by Guy Bass, illustrated by Steve May

Author, Guy Bass and illustrator, Steve May are back together for another dollop of big fun storytelling in which no pun is too outrageous and no silliness is too extreme.

Buck ‘n’ Bronco are the mascots of Happy Ranch amusement park and they are dedicated to their jobs – finding everyone’s ‘happy’. But when they find that Happy Ranch is closing, they are forced to to contemplate life in the big, bad outside world. It’s time for our two mascot heroes to hit the road!

But life out there isn’t quite the welcoming place they thought it might be. For a start, they are shocked to find that they aren’t actually as famous as they thought they were – in fact no-one has ever heard of them. And that big pocket full of money they have turns out to not be spendable outside of the Happy ranch.

Things are not looking good and, despite Bronco’s amazing finger-pulling farting trick, the two friends are forced to contemplate a horrible reality – maybe their days helping people find their happy have passed. Maybe, just maybe, they have to accept its all over?

But just when all seems lost, there’s a glimmer of hope from the most unlikely quarter – Alison Wunderland – the very person who closed down their beloved Happy Ranch. Do the mascots really have another chance to do what they do best? Or, is there another nasty surprise waiting for them just around the corner?

Well, I’m not telling - you’re going to have to get a copy to find out for yourself but be prepared for some more big laughs and some more epic farting.

There are plenty of illustrations from Steve May which complement the story perfectly. This is a book in Barrington Stoke’s ‘super readable’ series for reluctant readers of all kinds and I can guarantee there are enough guffaws here to keep any young reader going.

Available this month either from your local independent bookshop or directly online from Barrington Stoke.
