Book reviews from Lily (aged 11) and Archie (aged 9)
Here at the Letterpress Project we like the books we get to review to be road-tested by those they are aimed at. The sister and brother combination of Charlie and Archie have been reading two new books we asked them to review for us.
I, POD by Rebecca Lisle and illustrated by Richard Watson
This book is about the stone age and a kid called Pod whose little baby sister got washed away down a river after the swing that Pod had made broke. Then a mammoth came and knocked down a tree and saved the baby. The baby couldn’t say Pod’s name and kept saying different words. The pictures are quite good and definitely based on the stone age as there are rocks and different types of stones and stuff. I liked that the story was funny and the little baby sister couldn’t say the boy’s name. I liked at the end as the mum asked the who did it and the little baby said the boys name for real! I think it would be a good book for kids and maybe adults if they wanted to read about the stone age and have a laugh.
