Inspiring Young Readers
An Interview With Linda Newbery
The Letterpress Project has asked authors and illustrators to think about what has inspired them as artists, what their favourite books are and how they relate to their audience - we've also asked them if they themselves are book collectors.
We are delighted to present an interview with the author Linda Newbery. Linda has published widely for young readers of all ages, and has also written one adult novel, Quarter Past Two on a Wednesday Afternoon. She won the Costa Children’s Prize for Set in Stone, a late Victorian Gothic mystery, and was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal for two other young adult novels, The Shell House and Sisterland. With Yvonne Coppard she co-wrote Writing Children’s Fiction: a Writers’ and Artists’ Companion. Her latest book is The Key to Flambards, published by David Fickling Books.
