An Interview with Mel Wardle Woodend

The Letterpress Project is happy to host interviews with authors and illustrators where they can talk about what has inspired them as writers and artists.

We are delighted to present an interview with Mel Wardle Woodend. Mel is Staffordshire Poet Laureate 2019-2022 and Director of dyslexia friendly publishing company Dream Well Writing Ltd: reflecting her passion for making reading and books accessible and enjoyable to as many people as possible.

Her own published poetry collections include Natural Colours (2017), Just a Thought (2019), several children’s books, a short story published in paperback Tabitha (2021), poetry anthology One Hundred Memories (2019) in support of Alzheimer’s Society, and Poetic Vision (2020) for Guide Dogs UK.

Mel holds an MA in Creative Writing and enjoys facilitating poetry workshops, slams and open-mic events. She is co-organiser of WORD Stafford: a popular regular spoken word night currently in its fourth season. Mel is Creative Director of Stafford Literature Festival 2022.
