Dunkirk …. Would you believe me?

Would you believe me if I told you

There are angels trapped in darkness?

Men, women and children too,

Cold, frightened yet still so selfless?

Would you believe me if I told you,

That families from war zones forcedly departed,

Are now living not far from you,

Lost, confused and completely broken-hearted?

Would you believe me if I told you,

That screams of cold, sick children resonates?

Their parents don’t know what to do,

As all that is left is their love to dedicate.

Would you believe me if I told you,

Although these families endure daily hell,

Intimidation of mafia and police too,

They call you their friend and wish you well.

Believe me when I tell you, Dunkirk is very real,

A place where children don’t have childhoods,

Where fellow beings like us who think and feel,

Suffer daily hardship so misunderstood.

Believe all I tell you, go and see it for yourself,

The conditions, the suffering, these humans and their plight.

Look into the eyes of people in poor health,

Spend time with them, love them, show them the light.
